A page of the codex Argenteus appears in the Outlook, November 6, 1897, as photographed from the original volume in the Library of the University of Upsala, Sweden. This ancient relic was obtained by Mr. W. S. Harwood, of the Minneapolis Journal for the Outlook Company. Through the courtesy of these gentlemen, this page is reproduced in this paper and used as a medium for the elucidation of its hidden meaning.

In answer to my preferred request for additional information regarding the history of the Codex-page in question, I have been advised by Prof. Aksel Anderson, Roy. Univ. Library, Upsala, that "the Gothic page photographed on page 620 Outlook, Nov. 6, 1897 contains the text of St. Mark iii. 27-32." Dr. Anderson further informs me that only the Codex Argenteus is written with silver-letters on purple-colored parchment that Bishop Ulphilas invented the letters of the Gothic alphabet (the letters of the Codex Argenteus) that he died as a bishop of the Visigoths in the year 383 in Constantinople and that the Codex Argenteus was written in northern Italy (with the Ostrogoths) about the year 500. According to these statements the Gothic alphabet is about fifteen hundred years old, but whatever may be the date in which the Codex-page in question was written the Mosaic System of Chronology claims authenticity and inspirational value for it the Mosaic System leaving the simple historic record--narrative history--for the hidden or parabolic meaning.

By the simple historic record the words of the Codex-page as accredited to St. Mark iii. 27-32 are, chiefly, the words of Jesus while by St. Matt. xiii. 34, 35, "Without a parable spake he not unto them: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world."

With these preliminary remarks, the elucidation of the Codex is taken up in the following paper based upon the Mosaic System of interpretation. Wherefore, Mosaically considered, it will be observed that the Codex page contains two main chronological features, first, twenty lines, counting from top to bottom, as indicating the twenty minor epochs of the Grand Epoch from the beginning of Creation to the end of the Four Ages of Man, themselves.

In the esoteric reading of these lines, however, the lowermost one represents the 1^st Creative Day. In this light, Line 1, with the five succeeding lines in order, represent the six creative days; the next four in order represent the Euphratic age; the next two, the Hiddekelic age; the next two, the Gihonic age, and the remaining six lines, the Pisonic age. Esoterically, therefore, the group on the right of Line 1, consisting of three letters, symbolizes the Three Persons of the Trinity, without whom "was nothing made that was made," and, hence, the Creator. These Three also combine into the One Infinite Majesty, the Sublime Unity, the Most High God. By a second reading they, as the One, also represent the 1st Creative Day. Owing to the sacredness of the symbolic rendering of this particular group to the first Creative Day it, the 1^st Day, is frequently omitted in the historic ray pertaining to numerous works of art, counting from the beginning of the Creation. But, in the line immediately considered, it is taken into account, the nineteen remaining epochs of the Grand Epoch, being represented by nineteen symbols or letters ranged to the left of the Three in One, thus becoming a second witness of the Grand Epoch and its twenty minor epochs.

The Four Ages of Man, as already stated, are represented by four arches. The arch on the extreme left indicates the Euphratic or 1^st Age of Man; the second arch indicates the Hiddekelic or 2^nd Age of Man; the third, the Gihonic or 3^rd Age of Man; and the fourth indicates the Pisonic or 4^th Age of Man. The width of these arches contains a symbolic value for the years thereof. Wherefore, when measured by sixteenths of an inch (this particular unit of measure being optional), the widths are found to approximate 6.4, 7.3, 7.5 and 6.25 respectively. Now much of the work hidden in the symbols pertaining to the Tabernacle of the Congregation are manifested through the square. As, therefore, the words of the Codex are the words of Jesus - who also said, "behold they have Moses and the prophets" - so, in harmony therewith, the symbolic value of each of the Four Ages of Man will be as the square of their respective widths. Consequently, there appears, 6.4² = 40.96 as a symbolic value of the Euphratic age. Also, 7.3² = 52.29 as a value for the Hiddekelic age. Also, 7.5² = 56.25 as a value for the Gihonic age. Also, 6.25² = 39.06 as a symbolic value for the Pisonic age. The sum of these values is 189.5.

By the Mosaic System the years of the Pisonic age are 7860, male line of chronology; and 6550 = 7860 minus the redemptive fifth, for the female line. Consequently there appears by proportion, ---

Also, as 39:53.29::6550:8949 or to the years of the Hiddekelic age, female line, as against the 9552 of the Mosaic System.

Also, as 39:40.96::6550:6879 or to the years of the Euphratic age, female line, as against the 6772 of the Mosaic System.

Also, by totals, as 39:189.5::6550:31,903 or to the years of the Four Ages of Man, female line, as against the 32,442 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears as 39:56.25::7860:11,336 or to the years of the Gihonic age, male line, as against the 11,224 of the Mosaic System.

Also, as 39:53.29::7860:10,765 or to the years of the Hiddekelic age, male line, as against the 10,919 of the Mosaic System.

Also, as 39:40.96::7860:8255 or to the years of the Euphratic age, male line, as against the 8375 of the Mosaic System.

Also, by totals, as 39:189.5::7860:38,191 or to the years of the Four Ages of Man, male line, as against the 38,378 of the Mosaic System.

Now, in harmony with indications already set forth, the lowermost line of the Codex represents the 1^st minor epoch of the Grand Epoch as the 1^st Creative Day; while the uppermost line represents the 20^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch, or the final epoch of the Pisonic or 4^th Age of Man. By inspection it will be observed that the ratio between the Four Ages and the Grand Epoch is concealed in these two lines. Esoterically, therefore, the ten Gothic letters on the right of the topmost, or 20^th line, shadow creature effort as a means of obtaining life through righteousness by works. The blank space immediately following these letters represent universal creature failure. The twelve letters that follow which follow the blank space so significant of destruction symbolize redemption; that is (see Lev. Xxvii) ten plus the redemptive fifth = twelve. This blank space, therefore, clearly may be considered as representing creature effort of the Four Ages of Man, and hence, the Four Ages themselves; the Law having entered in with the creation of the Euphratic race.

The lowermost or 1^st line, in the larger sense as already set forth, represents the Grand Epoch as a second witness; but owing to the sacredness of the Triune Symbol on the right of this line; and, also, the Father having rested from his labors with creation of the Pisonic race, the twenty minor epochs of the Grand Epoch will be represented by nineteen letters and a dot.

It will be found that the blank space in the final or 20th minor epoch as representative of the Four Ages of Man; and the space occupied by the nineteen letters and a dot as representative of the Grand Epoch, when measured by sixteenths of an inch, are 3 and 43.2 respectively. Consequently, they may contain the ratio between these two chronological magnitudes. As, therefore, according to the Mosaic system perfect labor is represented by a cube – the sphere in its illimitability, indicating the Infinite Majesty encompassing the cube in its limitability – so there appears 3³ = 27; and 43.2³ = 80,621.568. From this position there further appears 80,621.568 ÷ 27 = 2985 as the ratio between the Grand Epoch and the Four Ages of Man, thereby corresponding with the 3000 of the Mosaic System.

The ratio having thus been determined there follows 31,903 x 3000 = 95,709,000as the years of the Grand Epoch, female line, as against the 97,326,000 of the Mosaic System. Now, by adding 2183, the Mosaic link from the beginning of the Euphratic age unto the creation of the Euphratic race, to the 38,191 obtained from the Codex, there appears for the Four Ages, male line, 38,191 + 2183 = 40,374 against the 40,561 of the Mosaic System. Consequently, 40,374 x 3000 = 121,192,000 as the years of the Grand Epoch, male line, Codex Argenteus, as against the 121,683,000 of the Mosaic System. It may be stated here that by adding the Mosaic link from the beginning of the Euphratic age, female line, there appears 31,903 + 1965 = 33,868 for the Four Ages of Man, female line. Consequently, 33,868 x 3000 = 101,604,000 years of the Grand Epoch, female line against the 101,256,000 obtained by one count of the Mosaic System.

Now, as already stated, the lowermost line of the Codex page represents the 1^st Creative Day, and the five next in order represent the 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th and 6^th Creative Days. In the six lines thus brought to notice the chronological value of each Day is symbolized. Wherefore, by measurement it will be found that Line 1 contains 51.5 sixteenths of an inch from the outside to outside as a symbolic value of the 1st Day. Also, let the 17 sixteenths of an inch of Line 7 as pertaining to the Euphratic age, symbolize the years of the Four Ages of man combined, male and female lines of chronology, the approximate values of which are 40,374 and 33,868 respectively, Codex System; the ratio between the Four Ages and the Grand Epoch being 3000. From these positives there now follows by proportion:

As 17:51.5::40,374:122,309. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 12,340, the Triune Symbol of Messiah appearing in Line 1. But the ratio between the Four Ages and the Grand Epoch is 3000. Consequently 12,230 x 3000 = 36,690,000 years as the value of the 1st Creative Day, male line, as against the 36,822,000 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears, as 17:51.5::33,868:102,600. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 10,260. Consequently, 10,260 x 3000 = 30,780,000 as the years of the 1stCreative Day, female line, as against the 30,640,000 of the Mosaic System.

Line 2 as representative of the 2nd Creative Day measures 51 sixteenths of an inch.  Wherefore, in harmony with the foregoing there follows, ---

As 17:51::40,374:121,122. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 12,112. Consequently, 12,112 x 3000 = 36,336,000 as the years of the 2nd Creative Day, male line, as against the 35,221,000 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears, as 17:51::33,868:101,604. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 10,160. Consequently, 10,160 x 3000 = 30,480,000 as the years of the 2ndCreative Day, female line, as against the 29,308,000 of the Mosaic System.

In Line 3 the chronology of the 3^rd Creative Day is symbolized by the 14 sixteenths of an inch as measured from the plane line of rotation of aggregate matter to the perfect letter of the right of the defaced letter found within Line 3. Wherefore, in harmony with the forgoing there follows, ---

As 17:14::40,374:33,249. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 3324. Consequently, 3324 x 3000 = 9,972,000 as the years of the 3^rd Creative Day, male line, as against the 9,605,000 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears, as 17:14::33,868:27,891. Of these years the Lord’s tenth is 2789. Consequently, 2789 x 3000 = 8,367,300 as the years of the 3rd Creative Day, female line, as against the 7,993,000 of the Mosaic System.

By the Mosaic System, and by the Codex Argenteus page as given later, a great cataclysmic development took place in or about the overlap of the 3^rd and 4^th Creative Days. In the Codex especially this disturbance is markedly set forth. Wherefore, in harmony therewith, the method for obtaining the symbolic values of the 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th days will vary somewhat from that used in determining the values of the first three days; yet the two methods will be closely interlocked. With this brief explanation, let a right line be drawn tangent to the extreme right of the letters in Line 7, representing the value of the Four Ages of Man, down through the point of intersection of Line 6 and the plane-line of rotation of aggregate matter, and from thence down through the letter or symbol on the left of the above mentioned defaced letter in Line 3. By inspection it will be found that this line is interlocked with the magnitudes involved in the forgoing computations.

Now, for the symbolic value of the 4^th Creative Day measure from the line just described along the top edge of Line 4 to and including the undefaced symbol on the extreme right thereof. The space thus occupied will be found to contain 22 sixteenths of an inch = the symbolic value if the 4^th Day.

For the symbolic value of the 5^th Creative Day measure from the right line as described from its intersection with the top of Line 5, along the same to extreme right thereof. This value contains 30 sixteenths of an inch.

For the symbolic value of the 6^th Creative Day measure from the common point of intersection of the right line, of the plane-line of rotation of aggregate matter, and of the top of Line 6; then along Line 6 to the blank space on the right thereof. This measure of value contains 24 sixteenths of an inch. As, therefore, according to the Mosaic System the symbolic values of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Creative Days are 7, 10 and 8, respectively, so when these Mosaic values are multiplied by 3 there appears 21, 30 and 24, thereby corresponding with the Codex values determined for the same magnitudes. The Mosaic approximations for the years of the 6^th Creative Day, male and female lines, are 12,775,000 and 10,629,000 respectively. Wherefore, there appears, ---

As 24:21::12,775,000:11,136,458 or to the years of the 4^th Creative Day, male line, as against the 11,075,000 of the Mosaic System.

As 24:24::12,775,000:12,775,000 or to the years of the 6^th Creative Day, male line, as against the 12,775,000 of the Mosaic System.

As 24:24::10,629,000:10,629,000 or to the years of the 6^th Creative Day, female line, as against the 10,629,000 of the Mosaic System.

The Grand Epoch and the Four Ages of Man, together with their chronology, and the twenty important minor epochs thereof, having thus been substantiated, much general history may be unfolded through a further application of the Mosaic System. Wherefore, as by the Mosaic System a pure unblemishable body was created for the Word of God in and as the very beginning of the Creation, so the Holy Trinity as the Creator is made manifest in the Codex by the group of three letters on the right of the lowermost line that represents the 1^st Creative Day. In this line, also, the Word of God is represented by the Triune Symbol on the left – as springing from the beyond of the 1^st Creative Day into the 2^nd Day. The Word at this time, in harmony with many ideals of ancient times, may be considered the Sun of Righteousness, through the symbolism of Pleiades as given later, and, hence, the Sun of the Spiritual World; the symbol of the Word varying slightly from that of the Creator as given on the extreme right of the line.

In the 3^rd line as representing the 3^rd Creative Day, the Triune symbol of the Word appears, yet with the same modification or variant introduced to distinguish it from the Three in One, the Messiah who was called from the beginning, and in whom the fullness of the Three dwells. Wherefore, Messiah having sprung from the beyond of the 1st Creative Day into the 1st Creative Day as the Sun of Righteousness; and by harmony, from the 1st Day into the 2^nd, so, now, Messiah springs from the 3^rd Creative Day into the 4^th, even as symbolized by the calling of the sun of the Solar System as a light upon the 4^th Day, thereby becoming the Sun of the Physical World. This historical standpoint, viz., the overlap of the 3rd and 4^th Creative Days, by the Mosaic System, marks the separation of the six creative days into two grand periods, three days to each. In support of this advancement an inspection of Lines 3 and 4 will disclose a great change in the position and condition of the letters in the right thereof. This disturbance denotes a general displacement, if not catastrophy in the overlap. As, therefore, by the Mosaic System a great cataclysmic development took place upon the 4th Creative Day, during which the sun, moon, and stars were called as lights, so the confusion depicted in the overlap of the 3^rd and 4^th lines of the Codex bears relation to God’s command as given for the institution of the great lights in the open firmament of heaven.

According to the Mosaic System the years from the beginning of Creation to the end of the 3^rd Creative Day are 81,650,392 and 67,942,830, male and female lines of chronology respectively; while the ratio between the Grand Epoch and the Four Ages of Man, Codex Argenteus, was found to correspond with the 3000 of the Mosaic System. Now, in this historic ray, let the characters in Line 7 symbolize the years of the Euphratic Age, and let the characters in Line 3 represent the years from the beginning of Creation to the end of the 3^rd Creative Day. The measurements of these two magnitudes, in sixteenths of an inch, are 17 and 44.5 respectively. By adding the Mosaic link from the beginning of the Euphratic age to the creation of the Euphratic race there appears, Codex Argenteus, 6879 + 1965 = 8844 as the longevity of the Euphratic age, female line; and 8255 + 2183 = 10,438 as the longevity of the Euphratic age, male line. Wherefore, there follows by proportion, as 17:44.5::8844:23,150. But the ratio between the Four Ages of Man and the Grand Epoch is 3000. Consequently, 23,150 x 3000 = 69,450,000 as the years from the beginning of the Creation to the end of the 3rd Creative Day, female line, as against the 67,942,830 of the Mosaic System.

Also, as 17:44.5::10,438:27,323. Consequently, 27,323 x 3000 = 81,969,000 as the years from the beginning of the Creation to the end of the 3^rd Creative Day, male line, as against the 81,650,392 of the Mosaic System.

In the 6^th line as the 6th Creative Day the Triune Symbol appears on the right thereof, and again towards the left near the centre. By the Mosaic System (see Judges v. 14-16; Ps. lxxviii. 70-72) out from the 6^th Creative Day as the 6^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch, Messiah sprang into the 7^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch, as against Evil, where he was begotten as the Son of God. After the begetting of Messiah as the Son of God in the 7^th minor epoch the war in heaven took place, and which, probably, extended into the 8^th minor epoch.

This indication is borne out by the eight Gothic letters established on the left of the 7^th line of the Codex. The destruction consequent upon this war is symbolized by the destruction of the Gothic characters on the remaining portion of Line 7.

In further elucidation of Line 6 as the 6^th Creative Day a meaning in harmony with that of Line 3 comes into notice. Wherefore, as through Line 3 the aggregate years of the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Creative Days were determined, so, now, through the symbolism of the 6th line the aggregate years of the 4^th, 5^th and 6thdays are determinate. In pursuance of this advancement the space occupied by the characters or letters between the two sets of Triune Symbols contains a symbolic value for the last three creative days. This space measures 22 sixteenths of an inch; while, as before, the space occupied by the Gothic letters in Line 7, viz., 17 sixteenths of an inch, represents a value for the years of the Euphratic age. These years are 10,438 and 8844, male and female lines respectively. Wherefore, there follows by proportion, ---

As 17:22::8844:11,455. But the ratio between the Grand Epoch and the Four Ages is 3000, from which there further follows 11,455 x 3000 = 34,335,000 as the years of the 4^th, 5^th and 6^th Creative Days combined, female line, as against the 33,276,450 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears, as 17:22::10,438:13,508; from which there arises, in harmony with the forgoing, 13,508 x 3000 = 40,524,000 as the years of the 4^th  5^th and 6^th Creative Days combined, male line, as against the 39,860,435 of the Mosaic System.

The Triune Symbol of Messiah also appears in the 14th line of the Codex as the 14th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. The advent of Messiah as the Prince of princes in the 14th minor epoch is fully set forth in the Mosaic interpretation of the Codex. In furtherance of this statement let Line 13 of the Codex represent the Gihonic age, and let Line 14, counting from the left to the Triune Symbol, represent the years of the Gihonic age from the beginning thereof until the advent of Messiah the Prince of princes as called for. These magnitudes when measured by sixteenths of an inch are 52 and 40.5 respectively. Wherefore there appears by proportion, ---

As 52:40::9447:7357 or to the approximate year of the Gihonic age in which Messiah made his advent as the Prince of princes. Now, by counting from the creation of the Euphratic race there appears 6879 + 8949 + 7357 = 23,185 as the approximate year of this advent, Codex Argenteus, as against the 22,477 of the Mosaic System.

In the 17^th line of the Codex the Triune Symbol of Messiah yet again appears, thereby still further corresponding with the Mosaic System (see Melchizedician Chart), for by it Messiah made his advent in the 17^th minor epoch as the son of man, and as Jesus the son of the Virgin; the substantiation of which, Codex System, is given later.

Now, in taking up the history of the Four Ages of Man in its relation to Man of Adam’s race, it appears that, according to the Mosaic System, the Euphratic race was destroyed at the end of the 10th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. In harmony therewith, inspection of the Codex will show a blank space in the 10thline as the 10th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch; the blank space being significant of destruction (see Line 7.) The historical stand-point of this catastrophy is further borne out by the 10 characters or letters on the right as symbolic of the 10 minor epochs; and which become a second witness to this effect. The 14 letters on the left, including the dot, may, from this point of view, memorialize the destruction of the Gihonic race in the Deluge of Noah; the Deluge occurring at the end of the 14^th minor epoch.

With the destruction of the Euphratic race, however, the overlapping portion of the Hiddekelic was swept away. Wherefore, as the latter was created in the beginning of the 11^th minor epoch, Mosaic System, so in the 11^th line of the Codex a blank space is established corresponding with its destruction. Consequently, let the 11^th line represent the Hiddekelic age or race, and the four characters on the right of the blank space represent the overlap destroyed with the Euphratic. These magnitudes when measured by sixteenths of an inch are 52 and 7.5 respectively. Wherefore, as the years of the Hiddekelic age, male line, are 10,756, Codex chronology, so there appears by proportion, ---

As 52:7.5::10,765:1552 or the years of the overlap of the Euphratic and Hiddekelic ages as against the 1603 of the mosaic System.

By the Mosaic System the Hiddekelic race as a people was destroyed at the end of the 12^th minor epoch, together with the newly created Gihonic in the overlapping portion of the 13^th. As with the Mosaic System, so with the Codex, a blank space significant of destruction is found in Line 12 as the 12^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. In confirmation of this historical event the 13 characters on the right of the blank space represent 13 minor epochs counting from the beginning of the Creation; while the 9 characters on the left represent 9 minor epochs counting back from the end of the Pisonic age. The Codex, therefore, clearly indicates the destruction of the Hiddekelic race in the overlap of these two periods of time, corresponding, as already set forth, with the end of the 12^th minor epoch. Moreover, the destruction seen on the extreme left of Line 12 represents the overlap of the Hiddekelic and Gihonic ages. The space as thus brought to notice measures 6.5 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, in harmony with the forgoing, there appears as 52:6.5::10,765:1345 or to the overlap of the Hiddekelic and Gihonic Ages as against the 1367 years of the Mosaic System.

Also, according the Mosaic System, the Gihonic race, as previously indicated, was destroyed in the Deluge of Noah at the end of the 14^th minor epoch; and, because of its overlap, at the end of the 15^th minor epoch also. This peculiarity is indicated in the Codex; for on the right of Line 15, which corresponds with the 15^th minor epoch, a destruction or defacement is depicted coincident with, and, hence, in harmony with the chronological stand-point of the Deluge. The Pisonic race was created in the beginning of this, the 15^th minor epoch.

In the light that Line 15 represents the Pisonic age, and that the destruction visible on the right of this line symbolizes the Deluge of Noah, let the measurements of these magnitudes be taken in sixteenths of an inch. This being done they are found to be 56 and 11.8 respectively. Wherefore, there appears for the date of the Deluge, ----

As 56:11.8::7860:1656 as against the 1656 of the Mosaic System. (Nemesis8: 3897 B.C. - 1656 years = 2241 B.C.)

By the Mosaic System the 16^th minor epoch is the epoch of Replenishment. As with the Mosaic System so, also, with the Codex, for in the 16^th line thereof the great blank space indicative of the area laid waste by the Deluge clearly calls for replenishment; while the 16 characters on the left, as a second witness, also point to this historical stand-point, counting from the beginning of Creation, as the epoch in which a renewal of life will be inaugurated.

By the Deluge of Noah the failure of the entire creature world as governors and subjugators is manifested. It was then, that is, in the minor epoch immediately following the Deluge as implied above, that Messiah made his advent among his people as the Living Bread, that by and through this Living Bread the creature world should be replenished, i.e., regenerated, reborn. Wherefore, as, by the Mosaic System, after his advent as the Living Bread in the 16^th minor epoch, Messiah made his advent as the Son of man, so, in harmony therewith, the Triune Symbol of Messiah is found in Line 17 of the Codex as the 17^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. It was during this epoch that the world was replenished by Messiah with those of his own choosing; the Living Bread having been brought forth by Melchizedek, the priest of the Most High God in the 16^th.

In pursuing the indications thus set forth let Line 15 of the Codex represent the Pisonic age, and let the 7 letters on the left of Line 17, which include the Triune Symbol of Messiah, symbolize the years of the Pisonic age until the advent of Messiah as the Son of man. These magnitudes measure 56 and 14.75 sixteenths of an inch respectively. As, therefore, the years of the Pisonic age are 7860 and 6550, male and female lines respectively, Mosaic System, so there appears by proportion, --

As 56:14.75::7860:2070 or to the year of the advent of Messiah as the Son of man against the 2070 of the Mosaic System. The date thus established corresponds with the day of Abraham (see, also, St. John viii. 56). But Abraham was about one hundred years old when Messiah made his advent as the Seed of Abraham (see, also, Gal. iii. 16). Wherefore, let the space contained in the 7 letters aforesaid measured from the extreme right to the centre of the leading letter of the Triune Symbol of Messiah symbolize the years from the beginning of the Pisonic age to the advent or birth of Abraham the Son of Terah. This space contains 14 sixteenths of an inch. Consequently there follows, in harmony with the foregoing, --

As 56:14::7860:1965 or to the year in the Pisonic age in which Abraham was born against the 1965 of the Mosaic System.

Now, by the thirds of Zechariah (see Zech. xiii. 7-9), the Shepard shall be smitten, the sheep shall be scattered, two parts therein shall be cut off and die, but the third shall be left therein. By the Mosaic lifting of the veil enveloping the mystery the two parts that shall die are contained in the years of the Pisonic age from the beginning thereof until the crucifixion of Messiah as Jesus the son of the Virgin. These years, according to the Mosaic System are 7860 / 2 = 3930. Consequently for one part there appears 3930 / 2 = 1965 = the year in which Abraham the patriarch was born, in harmony with the date determined above. As, therefore, by the Mosaic System, Messiah as Jesus the Christ was crucified, and died an absolute death in the year 3930 of the Pisonic age, so in harmony with what has gone before, let the space occupied by Line 17, from the Triune Symbol of Messiah to the extreme left thereof, symbolize the years from the beginning of the Pisonic age until the Crucifixion of Jesus. This space measures 34 sixteenths of an inch. Consequently, there appears. –

As 56:34::6550:3976 or the year in which Messiah as Jesus the Christ died upon the Cross as against the 3930 of the Mosaic System.

In the light as thus set forth the third of Zechariah that shall remain covers the years from the Crucifixion until iniquity shall have come to full; while a forth part will cover the years from the fullness of iniquity to the end of the Pisonic age. Wherefore, in harmony with these indications it will be found that Line 15 of the Codex, the representative of the Pisonic age, contains four parts, each part corresponding with the value determined by Abraham’s year; that is, 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 = 56; and, hence, that the Codex Argenteus the crucifixion of Messiah as Jesus, the Shepard, and the scattering of the sheep, took place at the dividing of the Pisonic age into two equal parts. (see, also, Dan. xii. 7.)

A further inspection of the Codex will disclose a blank space in Line 18 consisting of two parts. By the Mosaic System this line represents the 18^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch as the Judgmental Era. Hence, the blank space, by harmony, is a symbol of destruction pertaining thereto. The failure of man’s mission as subjugator and governor was established by the Deluge of Noah; after which dread catastrophy Messiah came forward to take up the work in which man so completely failed. The immediate mission of Christ was finished as the end of the 17^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch, as already indicated by his crucifixion. After the Crucifixion judgment followed, and hence, the Judgmental Era. The death and resurrection of Messiah as Jesus the Christ did not abolish iniquity; for we see it round about us this day. By the Mosaic System, however, iniquity comes to full in the year 2241 + 2133 = 4374 counting from the Deluge.

In harmony with the Mosaic System, Line 18 of the Codex takes up this history in its pertaining to the Judgmental Era; for let the characters on the right of the main blank space be measured by sixteenths of an inch as representing the male line of chronology from the Deluge down to the time of the fullness of iniquity; and let the characters on the left of the blank space be likewise measured as representing the female line of chronology counting from the end of the Pisonic age back unto the time of the fullness of iniquity, as a second witness. These measurements are 31.25 and 15.4 respectively. Wherefore, as the scale of the Pisonic age is 56 sixteenths of an inch (see line 15), so there appears, -

As 56:31.25::7860:4386 or to the years from the Deluge until the time iniquity comes to full as against the 4374 of the Mosaic System.

Also, as 56:15.4::6550:1801 or to the years from the end of the Pisonic age back to the time iniquity comes to full as against the 1830 of the Mosaic System. In summing up these magnitudes there appears 4386 + 1801 = 6187 as the years from the Deluge of Noah to the end of the Pisonic age as against the 4374 + 1830 = 6204 of the Mosaic System.

But, as already intimated, a marring appears in Line 18 very close to the main blank space. Both of these symbols pertain to the Judgmental Era; the one of the left indicating the final limit thereof. From this point of view, and in harmony with the foregoing, let the characters to the left of this marred space be measured as a symbol covering time from the end of the Judgmental Era or, its equivalent, from the beginning of the Thousand Years’ Era, to the end of the Pisonic age. This symbol covers 10 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there flows by proportion, -

As 56:10::6550:1116 or to the years from the end of the Judgmental Era and the beginning of the Thousand Years’ Era, to the end of the Pisonic age, Codex Argenteus, as against the 1000 + 110 = 1110 of the Mosaic System.

The blank space in Line 20, as already set forth, indicates the general failure of the Creature World as governors and subjugators; but it may also memorialize the Era of Destruction, even as called for by the Mosaic System. Further, the blank space in Line 20, so significant of failure and destruction, is followed, as already intimated, by twelve letters or characters as symbolic of redemption fully accomplished. As, therefore, Christ the Messiah made his advent in the 17^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch (see Line 17) as the Redeemer, and as, in the fulfillment of this work, he dwelt in forty-two tabernacles, (see St. Matt. i. 1-17) so the redemption, and the dwelling in the forty-two tabernacles, are memorialized by forty-two redemptive fifths, the value of the redemptive fifth being given later, as units of measure, contained in the undefaced letters in Lines 17, 18, 29, and 20, counting from a point within the Triune Symbol of Messiah as the Son of man in Line 17.

But Messiah made his advent among men as the Living Bread in the Epoch of Replenishment; that is, in the 16^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. As, therefore, through Abraham, the son of Terah, the Pisonic age became manifest as divided into four equal parts, so now, by analogy therewith, through Messiah as the Living Bread the Messianic field from the Deluge is divided into four equal parts; each part corresponding to the space occupied on Line 17 from the above mentioned point within the Triune Symbol of Messiah as the Son of man to the extreme right thereof. This space measures 11 sixteenths of an inch, while, as before, Line 15, the representative of the Pisonic age measures 56 sixteenths of an inch. Consequently there appears, -

As 56:11::7860:1543 or to the value of the said space in years. Now, upon reference to the Codex it will be found that the beginning of the Epoch of Replenishment, to the end of the Pisonic age, contains 44 sixteenths of an inch, or 4 spaces each equal to the one already determined, the value of which is 1543 years. Consequently 1543 + 1543 + 1543 + 1543 = 6172 as the years from the Deluge of Noah to the end of the Pisonic age as against the 6187 already found, and as against the 6204 of the Mosaic System.

The indication now presents itself that, as in the case of Abraham the son of Terah, the four points thus brought to notice through Messiah, mark historical events of vital importance in the Pisonic age, and through the repetition of like occurrences, to historical events pertaining to the Grand Epoch as a whole. Wherefore, in relation to the Pisonic age, the 1^st space of 1543 years brings time from the Deluge of Noah down to the midst of captivity of the children of Israel; the 2nd space of 1543 years brings time from the midst of captivity of the Children of Israel down to the midst of the Dark Ages; the 3^rd space of 1543 years brings time from the midst of the Dark Ages down to the midst of the dire epoch, to that part of the Judgmental Era in which the Evil Host will be judged, counting from the fullness of iniquity to the Advent of Messiah as King of the Thousand Years’ Era. The 4^th space of 1543 years brings time from the midst of the dire epoch of the Judgment down onto the Era of Destruction, down to the end of the  world; at which time God’s creatures will be freed forever from all suspicion of captivity; while their enemies will have fallen into the very pit which they, themselves had dug.

Of the two sets of symbols on the left hand margin of Codex page, one clearly is identified with the advent of Messiah as the Living Bread in the beginning or the Euphratic age, and the other with the advent of Messiah as the Living Bread in the Era of Replenishment, Pisonic age, whereby the Codex becomes still further enhanced in value by its startling harmonies with the Mosaic System.

Now, by returning to Line 1, it will be seen that the characters on the left thereof have been displaced. As, therefore, by the Mosaic System, on the 2^nd Creative Day, a great cataclysmal development took place by which aggregate matter was separated into the detached masses constituting the celestial bodies, so, inasmuch as by the Codex this displacement took place in the overlap of the 1^st and 2^nd days, the symbolism is in marked accord with the Mosaic. In substantiation of the statement let the space occupied from and including the Triune Symbol on the extreme right to the defaced symbol on the left represent the 1^st Creative Day as male line from the beginning thereof to the beginning of the 2^nd Day; and let the defaced space itself represent the overlap of these two days. As, therefore, these paces measure 43.5 and 8 sixteenths, so, in harmony with preceding indications, there appears by proportion, -

As 17:43.5::40,374:103,309. Of this number the Lord’s tenth or tithe is 10,330. Wherefore, by considering the ratio between the Grand Epoch and the Four Ages of Man there follows 10,330 x 3000 = 30,990,000 as the years of the 1^st Creative Day to the beginning of the 2^nd Creative Day, as against the 30,640,884 of the Mosaic System.

There also appears, as 17:8::40,374:18,997. Of this number the Lord’s tenth is 1899. Wherefore 1899 x 3000 = 5,697,000 as the years of the overlap of the 1^st and 2^nd Creative Days as against the 6,181,855 of the Mosaic System. But 30,990,000 + 5,697,000 = 36,687,000 as the total years of the 1^st Day, male line, Codex Argenteus, as against the 36,822,739 of the Mosaic System.

The overlap of the 1^st and 2^nd Creative Days having thus been substantiated in harmony with the overlap of the 3^rd and 4^th days previously intimated by the separation of matter, it will be found by drawing a line through the central letter of the group symbolizing the overlap of the 1^st and 2^nd days, that it has been displaced 18 degrees from the normal established by the position of the Triune Symbol in the beginning of the Creation. This displacement harmonizes with the 18 degrees displacement that befell the planet earth of the 2^nd Creative Day.

Upon the 4^th Creative Day; that is, in or immediately after the overlap of the 3^rd and 4^th days the planet – Earth, was displaced 46 degrees from the position attained on the 2^nd day. Now, by drawing a line through the centre of the two letters adjoining or in contact with those symbolizing the cataclysmal developments of the 3^rd and 4^th days it will be found to measure 27.5 degrees from the normal position as established in the beginning, and 45.5 from the abnormal as attained on the 2^nd Day, in harmony with the Mosaic values as given above, and, also, with ancient works of art otherwise set forth. These displacements, it will be observed, are in opposite directions. The Codex Argenteus, therefore, conceals within its lines the axial displacements of the planet Earth in harmony, also, with the computations of modern astronomy as well as with the Mosaic System; for from the arc subtended by the angle of 45.5 degrees let the angle be drawn to the circumference, when it will be found to measure 22.75 degrees, thereby corresponding with the 23.5 of Astronomy as the sun’s apparent path from solstice to solstice. The position of the plane-line of rotation of aggregate matter now becomes fixed by and is governed by the intersection of the apices of the two angles indicating the axial displacements of Earth, and, hence, is not optional.

From the astronomical views as thus given the indication becomes clear that, by retrospection, the 1st Line of the Codex, as symbolic of the 1st Creative Day, in addition to harmonies already set forth, represents the axis of revolution of aggregate matter on the 1st Day; and that the normal thereto, through which the angles of displacement were measured, represents the plane of rotation pertaining to aggregate matter on the 1st Day; all of which is in sequential harmony with Gen. i. 1-19.

Graphically the two lines consequent upon revolution and rotation by one view represent a cross (1), doubtless the origin of the Macrocosmic Cross. By another view the circle and the centre are brought to notice (2), doubtless the origin of the symbol of the sun. Also, by a third view the circle and the cross are obtained, (3) thereby representing earth as aggregate matter, and, also, as the planet Earth.

It will now be observed that the lines pertaining to Earth’s axial displacement which intersect in the angles above determined pass through certain Triune Symbols; two of which are on the 1^st line, one on the 3^rd line and two on the 6th line. From this peculiarity, and from the fact the displacement of planet Earth on the 2^nd Creative Day was determined through the inclination of the Triune Symbol on the left of the 1^st line, the indication becomes clear that this Symbol possesses an astronomical value as well as a value pertaining to Messiah as the Word of God. From this point of view, and in harmony with the foregoing, let the Triune Symbol on the left of Line 1 represent  the planet Earth as a preliminary to the introduction of astronomical features. Now, by an abrupt change of order, let the Triune Symbol on the left of Line 3 represent the planet Neptune; let the Triune Symbol near the center of Line 6 represent Uranus; let the Triune Symbol on the right of Line 6 represent Saturn; let the defaced Symbol on the right of Line 8 represent Jupiter; let the defaced double variant on Line 12 represent the Asteroids; let the Triune Symbol on Line 14 represent Mars; and let the Triune Symbol on Line 17 represent Earth in the order of sequence.

Should, now, a line be drawn from the intersection of the axis of revolution and the plane-line of rotation, tangent to the Triune Symbol representing Neptune, it will make an angle of 148 degrees with the axis of rotation, thereby symbolizing the displacement of Neptune in harmony with the 145 degrees accorded by astronomy.

In continuation, let a line be drawn from the intersection of the axis of revolution and plane-line of rotation, as before, through the Triune Symbol representing Uranus, when it will make an angle of 98 degrees with the axis of revolution, thereby symbolizing the displacement of Uranus, and corresponding with the 98 degrees accorded by astronomy.

Also, let a line be drawn from the intersection indicated through the Symbol representing Saturn, when a complemental angle of 60 degrees will be formed corresponding with the 60 degrees displacement of Saturn as accorded by astronomy. But should the alternate angle be considered then, inasmuch as Saturn is a duality – the sphere and ring – so the two Triune Symbols engaged by the alternate angle point to this duality, even though one of them is the Symbol of Uranus. This construction seems the more harmonious of the two.

As already stated, the defaced Symbol on the right of Line 8 represents Jupiter, while the defaced variant on the left of Line 12 represent the Asteroids. It will be observed that these variants are two in number, and, hence, by harmony, point to two planets rather than one, yet as having met with disaster; and which disaster also affected Jupiter. The catastrophy thus brought to notice by Codex clearly has changed the position of the intersecting angles relating to axial displacements, from those of Neptune, Uranus and Saturn. Wherefore, inasmuch as the Triune Symbol in Line 17 represents Earth by planetary sequence, and as Earth was displaced 18 degrees from the normal of the 1^st Creative Day, so let a right line be drawn from this symbol cutting the plane-line of rotation in an angle of 18 degrees. Now, from the point of intersection thus obtained let a right line be drawn through the defaced Symbol of Jupiter on the 8th line of the Codex, and another be drawn from the same point tangent to the defaced Symbol representing the Asteroid combination, when the included angle will be found to measure 90 degrees, thereby symbolizing the displacement of Jupiter, and corresponding with the 90 degrees accorded by astronomy. The indication now arises that the defaced Symbol on the extreme left of Line 12 pertains to some position of Jupiter, and identifies it with the Asteroids as a planet; possibly an indication of a collision between the two, the same being further borne out by the defaced Symbol of Jupiter on the extreme right of Line 12. This pertaining of Jupiter is taken up farther on.

The next in order is the Asteroid planet. By constructing an angle from two Symbols on Line 12, in harmony that of Jupiter, the displacement of Asteroid measures 56 degrees. The next in order is Mars. The Symbol of Mars is found on the right of Line 14. Wherefore, let a line be drawn from this Symbol down through the point of intersection last obtained, and a triangle constructed in harmony with the axis of revolution and the plane-line of rotation, when an angle of 30 degrees will be established as identified with the planet Mars. The complement of this angle corresponds with the 60 degrees displacement as accorded to Mars by astronomy. With the creation of the Euphratic race, however, the Law entered in my government of all hosts, and a new departure instituted. Wherefore, as the war between Satan and the hosts of heaven ended at that time, so, in harmony therewith, a line drawn from the intersection of the plane line of rotation and the beginning of the Euphratic Age as symbolized by Line 9 of the Codex, to the extreme limit of the Symbol of Mars, will form an angle of 60 degrees as the axial displacement of Mars in harmony with the method of the preceding planets, thereby confirming the new departure and its history.

The planet next in order of sequence is Earth as found in Line 17, the displacements of which have already been given. For the axial displacements of Venus, Mercury and the Suppositive Planet, the change of order as introduced through Mars is taken up. Wherefore, as in the diameter values of the Sun and the ten planets given later, Line 17 represents the diameter value of Earth; Line 18, excluding the defaced symbol on the right, represents the diameter value of Venus; Line 19 from the extreme to the plane-line of rotation represents the diameter value of Mercury; and Line 20 from the plane-line of rotation to the blank space on the right represents the diameter value of the Suppositive Planet, so, now, from the intersection of Line 9 with the plane-line of rotation as a focus, or starting point, an angle drawn to subtend Line 17 from the Triune Symbol representing Earth to the extreme left thereof will measure 66 degrees; thus corresponding with the 66-1/2 degrees accorded by astronomy for the inclination of Earth's axis above the plane of revolution.

The inclination of Mars's axis, Codex-page, as already set forth is 60 degrees as against the 61 degrees of astronomy.

From the harmony thus established for Earth and Mars there follows for Venus the angle obtained through the subtending points in Line 18 in their relation to the diameter value of Venus. This angle measures 77 degrees. But it is the complement of this angle that approximates the inclination of Venus' axis above the plane or revolution. This condition induces a research into the history contained in Line 18 for a possible reason for this departure from that of Earth and Mars. As, therefore, Line 18 as a whole symbolizes the Judgmental Era; and as the Judgmental Era is especially represented by the blank space near the center thereof, so it, the blank space, may also serve as a means for determining the axial inclination of Venus. Wherefore, draw an angle from the common point of intersection last adopted so as to subtend the blank space to the left of the plane-line of rotation specially representing the Judgmental Era in Line 18. This angle is found to contain 15 degrees, thus corresponding with the 15 degrees as determined by astronomy. By this application the harmony of the group remains unimpaired.

For the inclination of the axis of Mercury, the angle subtends the space on Line 19 from the plane-line of rotation to the extreme left as the diameter value of Mercury. This angle contains 20 degrees; thus corresponding with the 20 degrees accorded by astronomy.

As, therefore, the harmony is so perfect between the Codex Argenteus and modern astronomy, in relation to the indication of the axes of Mars, Earth, Venus, and Mercury as witnessed by the group under consideration; so, by the same system, an angle drawn from the common point of intersection, subtending the diameter value of the Suppositive Planet in Line 20, contains 9 degrees as the inclination of the axis of the Suppositive Planet above the plane of rotation. This disposition of the planets into three groups determined from the Codex also obtains for the Mosaic System.

The order of the planets, and their axial displacements, having thus been approximated, the times occupied in their respective revolutions around the sun will now be taken up and compared with modern astronomy. By astronomy, therefore, avoiding fractions, Mercury accomplishes her orbital journey around the sun in 87 days; Venus, in 224 days; Earth, in 365 days; Mars, in 687 days; Jupiter, in 4332 days or 12 years; Saturn, in 30 years; Uranus, in 84 years; and Neptune, in 165 years.

Now by reference to the Codex page, Neptune is found in Line 3. This line measures 45 sixteenths of an inch, and represents a symbolic value for Neptune. By the Codex page the 165 orbital years of Neptune are in terms of the female line of computation. Wherefore, by adding the redemptive fifth thereof there appears 165 / 5 = 33; and 165 + 33 = 198 years as the orbital value of Neptune, male line.

Uranus, the planet next in order, is found in Line 6. The orbital value of Uranus is symbolized by the letters in Line 6 counting from the plane-line of rotation, which passes through the symbol of Uranus, to the extreme left. The space thus occupied measures 19 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows, -- As 45:19::198:83.6 or to the years Uranus’ sidereal revolution against the 84 years accorded by astronomy.

Saturn, the next in order, also is found in Line 6. The orbital value of Saturn is contained in the space occupied by its symbol. This space measures 7 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows in harmony with the foregoing, -- As 45:7::198:30.8 or to the years consumed in the sidereal revolution of Saturn against the 30 years accorded by astronomy.

The plane next if order is Jupiter. The symbol of Jupiter is found on the extreme right of Line 8. The orbital value obtained there from is 2.75 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows, -- As 45:2.75::198:12.1 or to the years = 4419 days of the sidereal revolution of Jupiter against the 12 years or 4332 days of astronomy.

By the Codex, as before stated, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn, constitute one of these groups of planets, while Jupiter, Asteroid, and Mars, constitute a second. In support of this view the method of obtaining the orbital values of the second group will vary from that of the first group. Notwithstanding this variation the historic ray identified with the whole is not lost, in that Jupiter’s orbital value as computed above is in harmony with Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn.

Now, in furtherance of the group system, let Line 12, in the extremes of which the symbol of Jupiter, also appears, represent the orbital value of Jupiter in his identity with the second group; and let Line 12 counting from the symbol of Asteroid to the extreme right represent the orbital value of Asteroid. These values are 51.5 and 40 sixteenths of an inch respectively. Where fore there follows, --

As 51.5:40::4419:3432 or to the days occupied in sidereal revolution of the Asteroid Planet prior to its collision with Jupiter.

The planet next in order is Mars. The orbital value of Mars is found in Line 14, and covers the damaged portion due to the Deluge in the overlapping portions of Lines 14, 15, and in which the symbol of Mars is depicted. The space thus occupied measures 8 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows, in harmony with the Jupiter-Asteroid computation, --

As 51.5:8:4419:682 or to the days of sidereal revolution as Mars against the 687 of modern astronomy. It will be observed that the three planets composing the second group are identified with defacements. These peculiarities doubtless symbolize a catastrophy much more terrible than the disruption of the Asteroid Planet.

Earth is next in order, and appears in Line 17. The orbital value of Earth as found in its symbol is 5 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows by proportion, -

As 51.5:5::4419:429 or to the days of sidereal revolution of Earth as against the 365 days of modern astronomy. The apparent excess of days thus brought to notice doubtless is the result of a male line of computation; while the 365 days pertain to the female line (recur, also, to the computation for Neptune). In continuation of this view there appears 429 / 6 = 71; and 429 – 71 = 358 days, female line, as the sidereal revolution of Earth in harmony with the 365 called for by modern astronomy.

By the Codex Earth, Venus, and Mercury, constitute the third group of planets, and in which the Suppositive Planet is also included. As with the two preceding groups a change in the order of computation may be looked for. Wherefore, the orbital value of Earth in its identity with group 2 having been set forth, so, now, Line 17 may symbolize the orbital value of Earth in group 3; the measure of which is 49.5 sixteenths of an inch.

Venus, the planet next in order, pertains to Line 18. The orbital value of Venus is symbolized by the space on Line 18, subtended by the angle of 46 degrees pertaining to Earth, group 3, the measurement of which is 27 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there appears as 49.5:27::429:231 or to the days of the sidereal revolution of Venus as against 224, or, perhaps, the 231 of astronomy. Some authorities, however, give 244 days as the time occupied by Venus in going around the sun.

Mercury, the next in order, is represented by Line 19. The orbital value of Mercury is symbolized by the space in Line 19 occupied from the leg of the angle of 15 degrees pertaining to Earth’s angle, group 3, produced to Line 19. This space measures 10 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there appears, -

As 49.5:10::429:86.6 or to the days of the revolution of mercury around the sun as against the 87 days accorded by modern astronomy.

The Suppositive Planet comes next in order, and is represented by Line 20. The orbital value of this planet is symbolized by the space in Line 20 occupied from the leg of the angle of 28 degrees pertaining to earth, group 3, and the plane-line of rotation. This space measures 21 sixteenths of an inch. Where fore, there appears, -

As 49.5:21::429:186 or to the days occupied by the Suppositive Planet in going around the sun.

It will be observed that the angle of 15 degrees plus the angle of 28 degrees approximates the 46 degrees displacement of Earth, and, hence, that Venus, Mercury, and the Suppositive Planet are identified with Earth in group 3 as called for by the Codex Argenteus and Mosaic Systems.

The order of the planets, their axial displacements, and their revolutions around the sun having been brought to notice, the times occupied in rotating upon their respective axes as approximated by the Codex-page come next for consideration. Wherefore, by astronomy, earth revolves on its axis, solar day, in about 24 hours, Mercury in 24 hours 22 minutes; Venus, in 23 hours 27 minutes, Mars, 24 hours 39 minutes; Asteroid, not given; Jupiter, in 9 hours 55 minutes; Saturn, 10 hours 29 minutes; Uranus, not given; Neptune, not given.

Now, in harmony with preceding computations, let Line 17, in which Earth is found, represent the rotative value of Earth; let Line 18, which pertains to Venus, represent the rotative value of Venus; let Line 19, which pertains to Mercury, represent the rotative value of Mercury; let Line 20, which pertains to the Suppositive Planet, represent the rotative value of the Suppositive Planet; and let Line 14, in which the symbol of Mars appears, represent the rotative value of Mars. When measured by sixteenths of an inch these values are, respectively, 49.5, 48, 53, 49.5, and 52. As, therefore, Earth rotates on its axis once in 24 hours, so there follows by proportion, -

As 49.5:48::24:23.27 = 23 hours 16 minutes as the time occupied by Venus in one rotation as against the 23 hours 27 minutes accorded by astronomy.

Also, as 49.5:53::24:24.69 = 25 hours 41 minutes as the time occupied by Mercury in one rotation as against the 24 hours 22 minutes accorded by astronomy.

Also, as 49.5:49.5::24:24 or the hours occupied by Suppositive Planet in one rotation about its axis, modern astronomy being comparatively silent concerning this condition.

Also, as 49.5:52::24:25.21 = 25 hours 12 minutes as the time occupied by Mars in one rotation as against the 24 hours 39 minutes accorded by astronomy.

It will be observed that the first four planets thus brought to notice pertain to group 3, and that Mars pertains to group 2. Each group of planets has its own immediate scale, but the computative ray is carried from group 3 into group 2 through the proportions existing between Earth and Mars. Consequently Mars becomes the scale for group 2, consisting of Mars, Asteroid, and Jupiter. The rotative value of Mars as determined by Line 14 is 52 sixteenths of an inch; the rotative value of Asteroid is symbolized in Line 12 from Jupiter’s symbol on the extreme right thereof to and including the symbol of Asteroid toward the left extreme. The space thus indicated measures 40 sixteenths of an inch. The rotative value of Jupiter is symbolized by the space in Line 12 from the symbol of Jupiter on the extreme left thereof unto the blank space toward the right so significant of destruction, or, in the immediate history under consideration, of the collision of Jupiter and the Asteroid Planet. Jupiter’s rotative value as thus brought to notice measures 20.5 sixteenths of an inch. Wherefore, there follows by proportion, -

As 52:40::25.21:19.39 = 19 hours, 23 minutes for one rotation of the Asteroid Planet; modern astronomy being comparatively silent concerning this rotation.

There also appears, as 52:20.5::25.21:9.93 = 9 hours 55 minutes for one rotation of Jupiter as against the 9 hours 55 minutes of astronomy.

Thus the rotations of Mars, Asteroid, and Jupiter, are set forth in their identity with planetary group 2, and, also, certain bearings relating to the collision between Asteroid and Jupiter, in Line 12. But the symbol proper of Jupiter, which also bears the mark of the collision, is found on the extreme right of Line 8. As, therefore, the computative ray of one planetary group is identified with the next in order, so Line 8, in which the symbol proper of Jupiter is found, and which contains 51 sixteenths of an inch, becomes the scale for measuring the rotative values of Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, of group 1. From this stand-point the rotative value of Saturn is symbolized by Line 6, in which Saturn is found, as measured from the extreme to extreme. The value thus obtained is 52 sixteenths of an inch. Uranus, also, is found in Line 6. The rotative value of this planet is symbolized, in harmony with that of Jupiter, by the space in Line 6 measured from the extreme left to the blank space on the right thereof; the measure of which is 44 sixteenths of an inch. Neptune appears in Line 3. The rotative value of Neptune is symbolized by the 45 sixteenths of an inch contained therein. Wherefore, there follows by proportion, -

As 51:52::9.93:10.12 = 10 hours 7 minutes for one rotation of Saturn as against the 10 hours 29 minutes of astronomy.

Also, as 51:44::9.93:8.56 = 8 hours 33 minutes for one rotation of Uranus; modern astronomy being comparatively silent concerning this condition.

Also, as 51:45::9.93:8.76 = 8 hours 45 minutes for one rotation of Neptune; astronomy being comparatively silent concerning the condition. The following table shows at a glance the orbital and rotative values of the planets (solar) as accorded by astronomy and by the Codex Argenteus.

Wherefore, the relative positions of the ten planets, together with their axial displacements, their sidereal revolutions, and the rotations on their respective axes, having thus been indicated, their distances from the sun will now be considered: but as a preliminary, it may be well to recall the indication that, according the Codex, the Asteroid Planet was disrupted in a collision with Jupiter. With this premise, and in harmony with what has gone before, the Triune Symbol in Line 17 symbolizes Earth; the Triune Symbol in Line 14 symbolizes Mars. Of the three Triune Variants in Line 12, the one on the extreme left and the one on the extreme right pertain to Jupiter; while the third symbolizes the Asteroids as a planet. The Triune Symbol on the rights of Line 8 also symbolizes Jupiter – doubtless his true position – the effects of the collision being clearly manifest. That Jupiter is identified with Lines 8 and 12 is substantiated in the determination of its axial displacement, as, in the colliding sense, by its contiguity with the Asteroid Symbol.

The Triune Symbol on the right of Line 6 represents Saturn; the symbol near the center of Line 6 represents Uranus; and corresponding Symbol on the left of Line 3 represents Neptune, the last of the exterior planets; while the two Symbols in Line 1, one represents Earth the planet, and the other, in this astronomical interpretation, Earth as aggregate matter; the higher symbolism having been set forth on the beginning of this paper.

With recapitulation, the disruption of the Asteroid planet, and the defacement of Jupiter bring to notice the presence of Evil, and its interference with the orderly system of government established in the day they were called as lights in the firmament of heaven. By the Law of Redemption (see Lev. xxvii) if these magnitudes shall be redeemed, then the fifth part thereof shall be added thereto. But the collision of Jupiter and the Asteroid constituted no exception that the masses otherwise go free; all, by the Scriptures, being counted in the same category. Wherefore, as by the Codex, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn, form one group (see 1^st angle of axial displacements), and as Jupiter, the Asteroids, and Mars, also earth, form another group (see 2^nd angle of axial displacements), so the distance between these groups may be considered as symbol of the redemptive fifth in its pertaining to aggregate matter from the beginning of the Grand Epoch to the end thereof.

By the Mosaic System the years of the Grand Epoch are 101,000,000 female line; and 121,000,000 years, male line. Wherefore, the redemptive fifth of the Grand Epoch will be 121,000,000 – 101,000,000 = 20,000,000 years. Consequently, the value of the distance between the two groups of planets will be 20,000,000 years in regard to time, and 20,000,000 miles as a unit of measure will be the space between the two groups of planets as covering 20,000,000 miles.

Now, by measuring the space from the leading letter of the Symbol representing the planet Earth (Line 17) to the intersection of the plane-line of rotation with the topmost line of the Codex, it will be found to contain 4.6 units of measure. Wherefore, 4.6 x 20,000,000 = 92,000,000 miles. As, therefore, by modern computation Earth is 92,000,000 miles from the Sun, so the Sun of our system becomes established in or just beyond the intersection of the plane-line of rotation of aggregate matter and the topmost line of the Codex. Hence, the position of the Sun becomes located, and Earth is 92,000,000 miles distant from the Sun, according to the Codex Argenteus.

It will be observed that the three Codex lines are established between Earth and the Sun. These three lines symbolize three interior planets, viz., Venus, Mercury, and the Suppositive Planet called for by the Mosaic System – possible Vulcan, the existence of which is questioned by some astronomers.

In substantiation of these advancements join Earth and Sun by a right line. Now, by measuring on this line from the Sun to its intersection with a symbol in the topmost Line of the Codex, the space occupied will be .875 of a unit of measure. Wherefore, .875 x 20,000,000 = 17,500,000 miles as the distance of the Suppositive Planet from the Sun as against the 18,500,000 of the Mosaic System.

The distance from the Sun to the intersection of the right line and symbol of the Codex Line next in order measures 1.9 units. Wherefore, 1.9 x 20,000,000 = 38,000,000 miles as the distance of Mercury from the Sun as against the 35,900,000 of modern astronomy.

The distance from the Sun to the intersection of the right line and the symbol on the Codex Line next in order measures 3.4 units. Wherefore, 3.4 x 20,000,000 = 68,000,000 miles as the distance of Venus from the Sun, as against the 67,100,000 of modern astronomy.

The distance of the Earth from the Sun, as already determined is 92,000,000 as against the 92,8000,000 of Astronomy. Wherefore, in continuation it appears by the Codex that the distance from the leading letter of the Symbol of Earth to the leading letter in the Symbol of Mars measures 3 units. From this there arises 3 x 20,000,000 = 60,000,000 miles from Earth to Mars. But, by the Codex, Earth is 92,000,000 miles from the Sun. Consequently 60,000,000 + 92,000,000 = 152,000,000 miles as the distance of Mars from the Sun against the 141,300,000 of astronomy.

The distance from Mars top the Asteroids measures 7.33 units. Wherefore, from the Asteroids to earth there appears 7.33 + 3 = 10.33 units of measure. Consequently 10.33 x 20,000,000 = 206,600,000 miles = distance of Asteroids from Earth; and 206,600,000 + 92,000,000 = 298,600,000 miles as the distance of Asteroids from the Sun against the 254,200,000 of astronomy.

The distance from the Asteroids to Jupiter, 1^st count, measures 2.85 units, and, by a 2^nd count, measures 8.9 units, the mean of which is 5.87 units. Wherefore, from Jupiter to earth there appears 5.87 + 7.33 + 3 = 16.2 units of measure. Consequently, there appears, 16.2 x 20,000,000 = 324,000,000 miles = distance of Jupiter from Earth; and 324,000,000 + 92,000,000 miles = 416,000,000 miles = distance of Jupiter from the Sun as against the 482,000,000 of astronomy.

The group considered above constitutes one of the two into which the exterior planets are divided. This division, by the immediate line of interpretation, relates to the disturbance brought about through the collision of Jupiter and the Asteroid Planet; the latter, by strongly marked Codex indications, corresponding in volume with that of Saturn. Indications will be given later, that, by analogy, a terrific catastrophy occurred outside our Solar System, which resulted in the formation of the Galaxy. As, therefore, the two groups of planets have been forces from their normal p[lane of rotation, so, now, a change may be looked for in the method for determining the distances of Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

By the Mosaic System a series of factors, viz., 1, 2, 4, 6, were developed in determining the distances from the Sun of a Suppositive Planet (Vulcan?), of Mercury, of Venus, and of Earth; but, in the Codex, the variant factors are, or at least appear to be 1, 2, 3, 4, for Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune respectively.

Now the distance from Jupiter to Saturn, in the Codex, measures 1.55 units. Wherefore, for Saturn there appears 1.55 + 5.87 + 7.33 + 3 = 17.75 units of measure. Consequently 17.75 x 20,000,000 = 355,000,000 miles; and 355,000,000 + 92,000,000 = 447,000,000 miles. But, in harmony with the Mosaic System, and the variant factors, 447,000,000 x 2 = 894,000,000 = distance of Saturn from the Sun, against the 884,200,000 of astronomy. The factor 1 pertains to Jupiter as already intimated.

The distance from Saturn to Uranus, Codex Argenteus, measures 7.61 units. Wherefore, there appears for Uranus 7.61 + 1.55 + 5.87 + 7.33 + 3 = 25.36 units of measure. Consequently, 25.36 x 20,000,000 = 507,200,000 miles; and 507,200,000 + 92,000,000 = 599,200,000 miles. But, in harmony with the foregoing, 599,200,000 x 3 = 1,796,600,000 miles = distance of Uranus from the Sun, as against the 1,780,000,000 of astronomy.

The distance from Uranus to Neptune, Codex Argenteus, measures 4.1 units. Wherefore, there appears for Neptune 4.1 + 7.61 + 1.55 + 5.87 + 7.33 + 3 = 29.46 units of measure. Consequently, 29.46 x 20,000,000 = 589,200,000 miles; and 589,200,000 + 92,000,000 = 681,200,000 miles. But in harmony with the foregoing, 681,200,000 x 4 = 2,724,800,000 miles as the distance of Neptune from the Sun, as against the 2,787,300,000 of astronomy. (see Planisphere 1, constructed in harmony with the Codex, Sol as the centre thereof.)

It will be observed that the sum of the distances of Jupiter and the Asteroid from the Sun is 714,600,000 miles against the 736,200,000 accorded by modern astronomy, which still further points to the collision between these two great planets; in that the general equilibrium of the Solar System harmonizes with that accepted by the astronomy of today; while the combined distances of all the planets from the Sun excepting the Suppositive, is 6,479,400,000, as against the 6,692,257,000 of the Mosaic System and the 6,525,199,000 accorded by astronomy. The interpretations of the Codex, therefore, diverse though they be in historical rays, are in such close harmony with the Mosaic System, the present Codex, be not the veritable original itself.

The axial displacements, and the distances of the planets from the Sun having been disclosed from the marvelous relic under consideration, the diameters and volumes of these great bodies are also derivable from the same apparently exhaustless source.

Now the intimation has been given that the volume of the Asteroid Planet approximated that of Saturn. Wherefore, in harmony with this view, the volumes of the planets varying as the cubes of their respective diameters, so from the diameter values as symbolized on the Codex the volumes of the ten planets may be approximated.

From this stand-point let Line 17, in which earth appears, represent the diameter value of Earth; let Line 18, excluding the defaced letters, represent the diameter value of Venus; let Line 19 from the extreme left to the plane-line of rotation represent the diameter value of Mercury; and let Line 20 from the plane-line of rotation to the blank space represent the diameter value of the Suppositive Planet. These values are 11.75, 11.6, 4.5, and 1.55 units of measure respectively. Now, inasmuch as the accorded diameter of earth is 7926 miles, so there follows by proportion, -

As 11.75:1.55::7926:1044 or to the diameter of the Suppositive Planet in miles. Wherefore, 1044³ x .5236 = volume of Suppositive Planet.

Also, as 11.75:4.5::7926:3035 or to the diameter of Mercury in miles, as against the 3089 of astronomy. Consequently 3035³ x .5236 = volume of Mercury.

Also, as 11.75:11.6::7926:7841 or to the diameter of Venus in miles, as against the 7896 of astronomy. Consequently 7841³ x .5236 = volume of Venus.

Owing to the greater magnitude of the exterior planets the unit of measure, itself, is taken as the diameter value of Earth instead of the whole or Line 17; the unit of measure corresponding with the inside measurement of Earth’s Symbol. With this simplification, it will be observed in the Codex, that, as already set forth and substantiated, Mars appears in Line 14. But, by inspection, it will further be observed that the defaced symbols of Line 15 as indicative of the Deluge, overlap the symbol of Mars, thus leaving only a portion as constructively undamaged. The undamaged part left standing measures .51 of a unit. Consequently 7926 x .51 = 4042 as the diameter of Mars against the 4070 accorded by astronomy. Wherefore, 4042³ x .5236 = volume of Mars.

The Asteroid planet appears in Line 12 near the centre, while a memorial of Jupiter is established on the extreme right. The distance from this memorial to the leading letter in the Asteroid Symbol measures 9.35 units. Consequently, 7926 x 9.35 = 74,108 miles as the diameter of the Asteroid planet before the collision with Jupiter. Wherefore, 74,108³ x .5236 = volume of Asteroid planet.

The true symbol of Jupiter appears on the extreme right of Line 8, yet as defaced, the missing letter having been swept away in the collision with Asteroid. (see Line 12.) The diameter value of Jupiter by lines 8 and 12, measures 12 units. Consequently 7926 x 12 = 95,112 miles as the diameter of Jupiter as against the 92,164 accorded by astronomy. Should, however, the diameter value of Jupiter be taken at 11.7 units instead of 12 then there would be 7926 x 11.7 = 92,634 as the diameter of Jupiter as against the 92,164 of astronomy. Wherefore, by first count, 95,112³ x .5236 = volume of Jupiter.

The symbol of Saturn appears in Line 6. In this line the Symbol of Uranus also appears, but through the determination of Saturn’s axial displacement the latter planet became identified with both symbols. In harmony with this indication the diameter value of Saturn as measured from symbol to symbol, contains 9.25 units. Consequently 7926 x 9.25 = 73,315 miles as the diameter of Saturn as against the 75,050 of astronomy. Wherefore 73,315³ x .5236 = volume of Saturn. It will be observed that the diameter of Saturn closely approximates that of Asteroid, although the intimation of this nearness as previously given was implied from a ratio apparently existing between Jupiter and Asteroid in Line 12.

Uranus is established in Line 6 near the centre. The diameter value of this planet when measured from its symbol to extreme left of Line 6 contains 4.75 units. Consequently, 7926 x 4.75 = 37,648 miles as the diameter of Uranus as against the 36,216 of astronomy. Wherefore, 37,648³ x .5236 = volume of Uranus.

Neptune appears in Line 3 of the Codex. Now, as with the measurements for Mercury and the Suppositive Planet, the diameter value of Neptune is measured from the plane-line of rotation to the extreme left of Line 3. This value is 4.5 units. Consequently, 7926 x 4.5 = 33,610 miles as the diameter of Neptune as against the 33,610 of astronomy. Wherefore, 35,667³ x .5236 = volume of Neptune.

The diameters of the ten planets of the Solar System having been considered that of the Sun now comes forward. Wherefore, in the Codex the diameter value of the Sun is symbolized by the aggregate number of units of measure contained in the undefaced characters or letters found in the lines in which the ten planets appear, leaving out the sacred Symbol of the Creator.

Now, commencing with Line 1, and containing through Lines 3, 6, 8, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, there appears 10.125, 9.875, 12.5, 12.125, 10.975, 10.6, 11.225, 9.625, 12.75, and 11.125 respectively; the sum of which is 110.925. Consequently 7926 X 110.925 = 879,191 miles as the diameter of the Sun against the 888,646 accorded astronomy. Wherefore 879,191³ X .5236 = volume of the Sun. It will be observed that the Sun's diameter, as computed substantiates the existence of ten planets in the Solar System.

Now according to astronomy the density of Jupiter, the symbol of which appears in Line 8, is 1.3. It has been shown through the distances of the planets that Jupiter is a link connecting the 1st and 2nd groups thereof. In harmony with this showing let line 8 measured from extreme right to extreme left represent the density-value of Jupiter; let Line 6, in which the double symbol of Saturn appears, counting from the one to the other represent the density-value of Saturn; let Line 6, in which, also, the symbol of Uranus appears, measure from extreme right to and including the symbol of Uranus represent the density-value of Uranus; let Line 3, in which Neptune is found, measured from extreme right to extreme left, represent the density-value of Neptune; and let Line 12 from the extreme right to and including the symbol of Asteroid represent the density-value of Asteroid. These values in sixteenths of an inch as Jupiter, 51: Saturn, 31.5; Uranus, 38.5; Neptune, 44.5; Asteroid, 40. Wherefore there follows by proportion,

As 51:31.5::1.3:.8 or to the density of Saturn as against the .75 of astronomy.

Also, as 51:38.5::1.3:.98 or to the density of Uranus as against the 1 of astronomy.

Also, as 51:40::1.3:1.13 or to the density of Neptune as against the 1.2 of astronomy.

Also, as 51:40::1.3:1 or to the density of the Asteroid planet.

It has been shown, also, that Mars is identified with Planetary Group 3, in which Earth, Venus, Mercury, and the Suppositive Planet are found. The density of Earth as accorded by astronomy is 5.67. Wherefore let Line 17, in which Earth is found represent the density-value of this planet as measured from extreme left to and including its symbol; let Line 18 minus the defacement specially symbolizing the axial value of Venus, represent the density value of Venus; let Line 19, which pertains to Mercury, represent the density-value of Mercury; let Line 20, which pertains to the Suppositive Planet represent the density-value of Mars (1) measured from extreme right to and including the symbol of Mars, and (2) from the extreme left to this symbol. These values in sixteenths of an inch are as follows, Earth, 40: Venus, 48-10=38; Mercury, 53; Suppositive Planet, 49.5; Mars (1) 41.5, (2) 11. Wherefore for Venus there appears, ---

As 40:38::5.67:5.38 or to the density of Venus against the 5.23 of astronomy.

Also, as 40:53::5.67:7.5 or to the density of Mercury against the 7.03 of astronomy.

Also, as 40:49.5::5.67:7 or to the density of the Suppositive Planet.

Also, (1) as 40:41.5::5.67:5.88 or to the density of Mars. (2) as 40:11::5.67:55 or to the density of Mars.

The mean of these two values is 3.71 as against the 2.93 of astronomy. From densities as thus set forth the masses, and, hence, weights of the planets are readily computed.

From the Solar System the Codex takes up aggregate matter as next in order of elucidation. By the Codex, therefore, as already intimated, aggregate matter revolves about the lowermost line (Line 1) as an axis. According to modern astronomy aggregate matter resolves about Alcyone of the Pleiades. Let this star, therefore, be placed in conjunction with Line 1 at its intersection with the plane-line of rotation. By this historic ray the remaining Pleiads, six in number, are symbolized by the first six lines of the Codex, the same being represented in Planisphere 2 by six circles described about Alcyone.

The 7^th line of the Codex, as already set forth, is symbolic of dismemberment or division. Wherefore, in harmony therewith, let the twenty lines of the Codex as symbolic of the twenty special minor epochs of the Grand Epoch from the beginning of the Creation to the end of the Four Ages of Man be memorialized in Planisphere 2 by an annulus with twenty compartments or nodules drawn, by scale, in its required proximity to Line 6. From the positions as thus established the numerals 1, 6 and 20 appear; while the diameter and circumference values are pictured by the 6 Pleiads and Annulus. But, in the traverse count of Line 1, owing to the sacredness of the Triune Symbol of the Creator, only 19 symbols were utilized in the determination of the ratio between the Grand Epoch and the Four Ages of Man.

From this point of view there appears for the Codex 1, 6, and 19 instead of the 1, 6, and 20. Also, from the conditions as thus set forth there appears, as six is to nineteen, so is diameter to circumference, or, by numerals, as 6:19::1:3.1666, or to the ratio between diameter and circumference in relation to the Annulus and Pleiads.

Also, by the Codex, the radius of the 6^th Pleiad measures 4 units; and the Line 6 as the semi-circumference due this radius measures 12.5 units (see also Planisphere 2.) Wherefore, there follows, as 4:12.5::1:3.125 or to the ratio between diameter and circumference in relation to the 6^th Pleiad as a second witness. The mean of these two witnesses is 3.1458 as against the 3.1416 of the accepted ratio.

Now, in the introduction of another historic ray, by Job xxxviii. 31, 32, the Lord said to Job, “Canst thou bind the sweet influence of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?”

The four magnitudes thus brought to notice doubtless represent four great constellations in the heavens. These in turn may be symbolized in the Codex by Alcyone as Pleiades in Line 1; by Jupiter as Orion in Line 8; by Asteroids as Mazzaroth in Line 12; and by Sol as Arcturus in Line 20. Owing to the collision between Jupiter and the Asteroid, both of these planets are memorialized in Line 12, while near by, in Line 14, Mars is established; the three constituting, as it were, one group.

With these apportionments let their distances be measured from the axis of revolution, and complete Planisphere 2 in accordance with the scale therein adopted. This being done the indication becomes manifest that the influences of Pleiades reach to the utmost bound of matter. It must also be considered that the Triune Symbol of the Creator, of Messiah as the Word of God, and of Melchizedek as the Fulfilling Power of God, also find place in the axis or revolution whereby Pleiades becomes symbolic of Messiah, and, through Messiah, also of God the Creator.

From the positions thus advanced, taken in connection with the diameter and circumference values brought to notice, it seems (see sketch) that through the radius the thought direct of God is manifested, and through the circumference the thought meets the creature and springs from each to each. Yet join these points and a trigon appears through which, as an equilateral, the Trinity, the Three in One, are symbolized; and through which, whether ever after drawn as scalene, acute, or isosceles, God’s touch and unity with his creatures is manifested. Hence, in futurity, let a man “call to his neighbor under his vine and fig tree,” when the trigon as thus formed will fully exemplify God’s touch and unity with his people, whereby not one foolish word or thought can mar the work established thence, forevermore.

In further consideration of aggregate matter, by the Mosaic System the Sun has been displaced 4110 miles from the centre of the Solar System; possibly due to the disruption and vaporization of the Asteroid Planet. These miles may be construed to possess a value bearing upon aggregate matter. As, therefore, aggregate matter is spirit, essence, and form, must be redeemed, so these 4110 miles may be considered as so many redemptive units pertaining to aggregate matter; the value of the unit in its redemptive sense, being 20,000,000, whether as years or miles. From this stand-point there appears 4110 x 20,000,000 = 82,200,000,000 miles. But by the thousand-fold multiplication of Moses (see Deut. i. 10, 11) these miles become 82,200,000,000 x 1000 = 82,200,000,000,000 miles as the radial distance from Sol as Arcturus the outer border or limit of aggregate matter to Alcyone of the Pleiades as the central sun of the Great Celestial Sphere. (see Planisphere 2).

The ratio between the Four Ages of Man and the Grand Epoch was determined from magnitudes pertaining to the 1^st and 10^th lines of the Codex. As, therefore, Alcyone, the representative of the Great Celestial Sphere, finds place in Line 1, and as Sol, the representative of the Solar System (see Planisphere 1), finds place in Line 20, so the indication becomes well marked that the ratio between the Four Ages of Man and the Grand Epoch, viz., 3000, also obtains for the Solar System and the Great Celestial Sphere. Inasmuch, therefore, as Neptune (see Planisphere 1), whose orbit constitutes the outer limit of the Solar System, is 2,724,800,000 miles from the Sun, there follows, 2,274,800,000 x 3000 = 8,174,400,000,000 miles. These miles may be considered as the Lord’s tithe or tenth. Consequently, 8,174,400,000,000 x 10 = 81,744,000,000,000 miles as the radial distance from Alcyone to Arcturus as the outer limit of the Great Celestial Sphere against the 82,200,000,000,000 determined above, and as against the 83,679,000,000,000 of the Mosaic System.

The legitimacy of the ratio between the Solar System and the Great Celestial Sphere having thus been indicated the approximate distance of Orion, Mazzaroth, and Arcturus from Alcyone may be determined. Wherefore, in harmony with the construction of Planisphere 2, the distance from the axis of revolution of aggregate matter, in which Alcyone finds place, to the symbol of Jupiter in Line 8 measures 5.6 units. Wherefore, 5.6 x 20,000,000 = 112,000,000 miles. Also, as before, 112,000,000 x 3000 = 336,000,000,000 miles. These may considered the Lord’s tenth. Consequently, 336,000,000,000 x 10 = 3,360,000,000,000 miles as the distance of Orion from Alcyone of the Pleiades as against the 2,841,000,000,000 of the Mosaic System. (MS. Mosaic System and the Zodiac.)

Mazzaroth, according to the Codex (see, also, Planisphere 2) consists of a group symbolized by Jupiter, Asteroids, and Mars, even as already indicated. Now the distance from the axis of revolution of aggregate matter to Jupiter as in Line 12 measures 8.6 units; and the distance of Mars measures 10.1 units: the sum of which is 27.3 units. Wherefore, there appears in harmony with the foregoing, 27.3 x 20,000,000 = 546,000,000 miles; and 546,000,000 x 3000 = 1,638,000,000,000 miles as an estimated distance of Mazzaroth. These, also, may be considered the Lord’s tenth. Consequently 1,638,000,000,000 x 10 = 16,380,000,000,000 miles as the distance of Mazzaroth from Alcyone of the Pleiades as against the 14,524,000,000,000 of the Mosaic System.

The distance of Arcturus from Alcyone as determined by one count is 82,200,000,000,000 miles; and, by another, 81,744,000,000,000 miles. Now, according to the Mosaic System (see Tables of Distances) the distance of any one planet from the Sun multiplied by 5 approximates the distance from the Sun of the third planet beyond. This general law, also harmonizes with the Mosaic distances of Orion, Mazzaroth, and Arcturus.

As with the Mosaic System so with the Codex; the same law appears: for the distance of Orion multiplied by 5 = 3,360,000,000,000 x 5 = 16,800,000,000,000 against the 16,380,000,000,000 miles of Mazzaroth, as already determined. But when counted by rings Mazzaroth (see Planisphere 3), is the third beyond Orion. The distance of Mazzaroth multiplied by 5 approximates the distance of Arcturus, the third ring beyond. From the general law, therefore, 16,380,000,000,000 x 5 = 81,900,000,000,000 miles as the radius of the Great Celestial Sphere in harmony with the two approximations already given.

In the matter of symbolism, can one help wondering as the harmony it and the text of Job xxxviii. 31, 32: “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades?” when one considers the advent of the Creator, and the purpose of the Infinite Majesty as the Sublime Unity, the Three in One? Also, the springing forth of Messiah from the Eternal into the seething chaldron of the finite? Can one help wondering at the harmony where the text repeats “or loose the bands of Orion” as the great belts of Jupiter are brought to notice? And, also, can one help wondering where the Lord further demands, “Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season?” as the crash of worlds is brought to notice? How futile the effort of the creature to restore to planetary glory the fragments of colossi which to this day roam, visible and invisible, in space! Still more how vain the efforts of a man to “guide Arcturus with his sons” that not one atom of created mass break loose, and leave the rigid outline of the sphere for rapid flight into the heavens that lie beyond!

From the positions and analogies as set forth above the indications are well marked that Jupiter, as Orion, symbolizes the constellation Orion of to-day or some particular point or star therein; that the combination, Jupiter, Asteroids, and Mars as Mazzaroth symbolizes the Galaxy or some particular point or star therein; and that Sol as Arcturus symbolizes Sirius or some other particular point of star in the constellation of which he is chief.

Now according to the Codex, Arcturus is 81,900,000,000,000 miles from Pleiades; and Mazzaroth is 16,380,000,000,000 miles from Pleiades. Also, by the Codex measurement, Earth as representative of the Solar System (keep in view the various historic rays) is established in or near the centre of the belt between Arcturus and Mazzaroth (see Planisphere 2). Consequently, 81,900,000,000,000 – 16,380,000,000,000 = 65,520,000,000,000 miles as the width of this belt. Wherefore Earth, and, hence, the Solar System, being in the centre there appears, 65,520,000,000,000 / 2 = 32,760,000,000,000 miles; also, 32,760,000,000,000 + 16,380,000,000,000 = 49,190,000,000,000 miles as the distance of Earth from Alcyone of the Pleiades as against the 49,879,000,000,000 of the Mosaic System.

Also, by the Mosaic System (see MS Mosaic System and the Zodiac), Job as the progenitor of the Gihonic race was created in the beginning of the 13^th minor epoch of the Grand Epoch, counting from the beginning of the creation; and in eh beginning of the 8^th minor epoch counting back from the final minor epoch of the Grand Epoch. Wherefore, Mosaically 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 x 5 x 6 x 7 x 8 x 9 x 10 x 11 x 12 x 13 = 6,227,020,800 as an estimated value for some magnitude identified with Job’s day and place. But if, as before, the thousand-fold multiplication ensue, there appears 6,227,020,800 x 1000 = 6,227,020,800,000. This magnitude may, as heretofore, be considered the Lord’s tenth. Wherefore, there further appears 6,227,020,800,000 x 10 = 62,270,208,000,000 which as miles correspond with the distance from Arcturus to Mazzaroth, as already obtained, in the centre of which Earth as the astronomical home of Job finds place.

There also appears from the final eight minor epochs of the Grand Epoch 20 x 19 x 18 x 17 x 16 x 15 x 14 x 13 = 5,079,112,400 as the estimated value for some magnitude identified with Job’s day and place. But, as before, increasing this magnitude by the thousand-fold multiplication, and by the Lord’s tenth, there further appears, 5,079,112,400 x 1000 x 10 = 50,791,124,000,000 miles. These miles, therefore, correspond with the distance of Earth, the astronomical home of Job, and hence with that of the Solar System, from Alcyone of the Pleiades as against the 49,190,000,000,000 of the Codex as already determined; and as against the 49,879,000,000,000 of the Mosaic System.

The celestial path or orbit of the Solar System is indicated in Planisphere 2 b six position instead of a ring that computations for distance otherwise may not be rendered too complex. These six positions also memorialize the six great historic rays of the Battle-ranks Diagram of the Children of Israel, which extend from the beginning of the creation to the end of the Grand Epoch. (see MS. Indications of Judges).

Now, according to Henderson and Maclear, the distance of Alpha-Centauri, the nearest fixed star to Earth, is 20,000,000,000,000 miles. As, therefore, the relative positions of Arcturus, Mazzaroth, and Earth, have been approximately determined, so from earth as a centre, and with 20,000,000,000,000 miles as a radius a clear sweep of 40,000,000,000,000 is obtained, thereby leaving 12,760,000,000,000 miles as a filed for contiguous constellations before reaching Mazzaroth as the Galaxy on the one hand, and Arcturus as the outer limit of matter on the other.

As viewed in the heavens, however, the Galaxy encircles the Solar System, and hence Earth. But Mazzaroth as viewed from the astronomical position of Earth in Planisphere 2, 3 should be visible in its entirety as encircling Alcyone of the Pleiades. Wherefore, to harmonize the condition involved, take Earth as a centre, and with the distances from earth to Mazzaroth as radii, let circles be described as representatives of the Galaxy proper. This being done it will be observed (see Planisphere 3) that the outermost circle touches the ring of Arcturus female line, while Arcturus constitutes the limit of aggregate matter.

Now, let Earth and Alcyone be joined by a right line. Bisect this line, and let fall a perpendicular there from cutting the ring of Arcturus, female line. From the latter point of intersection let the angle be drawn subtending the orbit of Mazzaroth, when it will be found to measure 28 degrees thereby memorializing the 28 degrees displacement of Earth from the normal plane of rotation of aggregate matter in Earth’s pertaining to the 4^th Creative Day. Also let an angle be drawn from the same point of intersection subtending the Galaxy, when it will be found to measure 47.5 degrees, thereby memorializing in full the 46+ degrees displacement of Earth on the 4^th Creative Day as already obtained from the Codex-page, and from the Mosaic System. Form these computations the indication arises that the Galaxy was a development or catastrophy pertaining to the 4^th Creative Day.

In further confirmation of the positions thus set forth it will be found that the perpendicular as used cuts the diameter of the Great Celestial Sphere – aggregate matter – in the same proportions as the perpendicular in the Coded-page cuts the axis of revolution; for Line 1 of the Codex measures 51 sixteenths of an inch, and the two segments thereof as 18.5 and 32.5 sixteenths of an inch respectively; while the diameter of Planisphere 3 measures 63.5 sixteenths of an inch, and the two segments thereof are 23.5 and 40 sixteenths of an inch respectively. Wherefore there appears by proportion, -

As 18.5:23.5::51:64 or to the proportionate value of the diameter of the Great Celestial Sphere as against the 63.5 called for by Planisphere 3.

There also appears, as 32.5:40::51:62.7 or to the proportionate value of the diameter of the Great Celestial Sphere as against the 63.5 called for by Planisphere 3. The mean of these two values is 62.7 + 64 = 126.7; and 12637 / 2 = 63.3 as against the 63.5 of Planisphere 3. Hence the harmony between this Planisphere and the Codex-page in relation to aggregate matter becomes well established.

By other historic rays it further appears that the three rings of the Galaxy symbolize the first three creative days; and that the three rings of Mazzaroth symbolize the last three creative days, and, hence, that the six creative days were separated into two groups by some stupendous episode during the overlap of the 3^rd and 4^th creative days. The development of the Galaxy has already been brought to notice in relation to this event. The indication is highly probable, therefore, that the changes wrought by the calling of the sun, moon, and stars, as lights in the firmament of heaven operated to mark this division of the creative days as a new and sublime departure.

The history brought to light is readily traceable in the parable and dark sayings of Ps. lxxviii. 1-26 in connection with Gen. i. 1-23. From this point of view the chronological standpoint of the Galaxy catastrophy is determinable from the symbolism of Planisphere 3; in that the aggregate years of the last three creative days as the diameter of the Galaxy is to the diameter of Mazzaroth. But the diameter of Mazzaroth, female line = ab = 10.5 sixteenths of an inch; the diameter of Mazzaroth, male line = ad = 12.25 sixteenths of an inch; and the diameter of the Galaxy, male line = de = 24.75 sixteenths of an inch. As, therefore, the aggregate years of the first three creative days, Codex Argenteus, are 81,650,000 and 67,900,000, male line and female lines respectively; and as the aggregate years the last three creative days are 40,524,000 and 34,335,000, male and female lines respectively, so there follows by proportion, -

As 12.25:24.75::40,524,000:81,875,028 or the aggregate years of the first three creative days, male line, as against the 81,650,000 already determined from the Codex.

There also appears, as 10.5:21::34,335,000:68,670,000, or the aggregate years for the first three creative days, female line, as against the 67,900,000, already determined from the Codex. From these computations, therefore, the Galaxy catastrophy occurred about the years B.C. 34,335,000, or to the years 68,670,000 counting from the beginning of the Creation.

It may be well to observe here that the symbolism of Planisphere 3 is in harmony with the esoteric meaning of the Gettysburg Stone, and with certain ancient American earthworks notably those of Ohio and Kentucky.

Now, by sequence, from the three planispheres a fourth is manifest, (see Planisphere 4) by which the relative positions of the Redeemed, the Host of Evil are indicated; the latter being the inherences of Satan (see Rev. xvi. 13, 14), especially so when taken in connection with the Apocalypse as the revelation to St. John the Divine. By Planisphere 3 aggregate matter constitutes the material, the blemishable earthy body; the body in which all spiritual hosts were, and are, called to prove the qualities of which they were and are, the inherences. This great battlefield is now revealed as an enormous sphere over one hundred and sixty trillions of miles in diameter. One vital question now presents itself, viz. Is this field large enough in itself to furnish proof of the qualities inherent to the spiritual hosts that existed prior to the creation of matter? The indications are that its amplitude is in excess rather than deficient in this respect; for when the condition is considered that war has been wages throughout this great field for over one hundred millions of years; each day, and hour, and minute thereof bearing witness, not only of its continuity, but of that still greater magnitude, the multiplication of time into numbers; whereby proof is carried far beyond the grasp of man into the reach of the Infinite God.

By Gen. i. 20 the fowls fly above the earth – clearly by sequence the planet Earth – in the open firmament of heaven. The open firmament of heaven, therefore, (see, also, Gen. i. 14-18) is the first heaven, the space in which the fowls of the air fly, and in which the sun, moon, and stars, revolve and circle in their orbits. The bounds of this heaven are set, as already indicated, by rigid outline of the material, the earthy in its larger sense. Who, then, in very deed, can guide Arcturus with his sons excepting God? Not one! It is God that sitteth upon the circle of earth as aggregate matter, and the inhabitants thereof are weaklings, or “grasshoppers” (see Isa. Xl. 22). Moreover, it is God that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain; and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. (see also, Isa. Xl. 22). Behold in the Codex Planisphere the open firmament of heaven stretched out as a curtain, and (see Rev. vi. 14) the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together! From the earthy, therefore, to the heavens that endure, the risen Christ has found a home. This heavenly home, clearly, is beyond the open firmament pertaining to the earthy. “Come up hither” said he that sat upon the throne to John (Rev. iv. 1). And in the Spirit, the earthy left behind, John was before the throne. There he saw the Lamb, the Lion of the tribe of Judah; and there he saw “a great multitude which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues.”

This vast multitude, therefore, represents the Redeemed abiding with their Redeemer in the heavens that lie beyond the open firmament (see Planisphere 4), and, hence, in this second heaven they rejoice with their Redeemer. Moreover, it was from this stand-point that John beheld the open firmament depart as a scroll when rolled together; and it was from this stand-point that, owing to the numerous eclipses, the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. It was from this stand-point that the earthy, because of its environments, was called “Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots.” It was from this stand-point that a great voice cried “Come out of her, my people;” and it was from this stand-point that the Redeemed witnessed the burning of this great city with all the hosts of Satan enclosed therein. But beyond this Evil City, in the fullness of God’s transmitted glory, the Pure Unblemishable Body, created in the beginning, has become the habitation, the home, the substance, in which the Divine Spark, the Spirit of Life in its pertaining to God’s creatures, lives, moves, and has it being. (See Acts xvii. 28).

The great condition of creature being, however, involves individuality and form. The Divine Spark, simply, is without form; it is a portion of a great Infinity; but when conjoined to a body, whether material or spiritual, then it, the Divine Spark, partakes of form; form or shape really constituting the soul (see Preface). The Pure Unblemishable Body, therefore, while preserving shape to the creature, does not prevent formal progress any more, nay, not so much as the earthy prevents the visible growth of creature hosts whose genera have been classified by the scientific mind. Wherefore, in the Earthy as a great sphere, in the material as a finite home and as a shadow of the Death – the Great Sphere mathematically conforming to the requirements of the bottomless pit as viewed by St. John from the heavenly stand-point – the Hosts of Satan continue on, and on, or until the last dread ban fulfills upon them. The burning identified with this mass, however, does not, of necessity, inflict torture, even as tod-day the heat from heavenly incandescences inflicts no torture upon the human frame; and even as the molten seas of inner earth inflict no pain upon the human frame, except it be from incidental overflow as with volcanic outbursts, and huge boiling geysers. In contradistinction to this, in the Infinite Beyond the Pure Unblemishable prospers, ring upon ring, as the Triune God fulfils the Purpose he ordained; crowning each growing heaven with intelligences destined, yes, predestined, never more to know the adverse throng that once in self-deceiving triumph reared itself in mass against them. God the Great predestinated all his creatures to this happy lot. He, as the All, the Knowing One, knew well the evil that would scathe the creature in the deadly strife. But God did not predestinate the Evil. Neither did He create the Enemy. He permitted the creature to strive for the mastery and conquest, even with Himself. The acceptance by the creature under such permission did not, and does not free the creature from the perils of the war. The glory of the subjugation, however, departed not from Him; and now He willingly and gladly shares this glory with the hosts He called; the heavens bearing witness, far and near, that all His creatures are His children through the Sparks divine with which he armed them in the great Subjugatory War.

In summing up the magnitudes of this remarkable page of Codex Argenteus, it contains the Grand Epoch from the beginning of the creation; also the twenty minor epochs thereof as an historic ray; also the general chronology thereof. It contains the Four Ages of Man; also the general chronology therof. It symbolizes the one God as the Three Persons of the Trinity; also the Three Persons of the Trinity as the Creator; also the advent of Messiah as the Son of God on the beginning of the Euphratic age. Also, the fulness of the Three Persons as dwelling in each Member of the Trinity. Also the advent of Messiah as the Prince of princes in the latter part of the Gihonic age; the advent of Messiah as the Living Bread in the Pisonic age; and, also, the advent of Messiah as the Son of man, and as the Seed of woman in the Pisonic age: all of which are in the same sequential order as found in the Mosaic System.

It contains the cataclysmic developments of the 2^nd Creative Day; the cataclysmic developments of the 4^th Creative Day; the destructive war in heaven between the Archangel Michael and Satan in the beginning of the Euphratic age; entering in of the Law, the new departure with the creation of the Euphratic race; the destruction of the Euphratic race, the destruction of the Hiddekelic race; and the destruction of the Gihonic race together with the overlapping portion of the Pisonic in the Deluge of Noah. It contains the destruction incidental to the Judgment era, and symbolizes in the final epoch of the Grand Epoch the utter failure of the creature world as subjugators and governors. It symbolizes, also, the consummation of redemption as the final act of grace incidental to Messiah as God.

Now, by the Battle-ranks Diagram of the Children of Israel there are six great historic rays running through the Grand Epoch. Solomon states, Eccl. i. 9, 10, "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us." Wherefore, owing to this implication of historical repetition, the six great historic rays of the above mentioned Diagram give six independent rays running throughout the Grand Epoch for the location and identification of like occurrences. Hence the contents of the Codex-page as enumerated above, serve to open out the general history of the world, but are far from exhausting its application and purport. They are far-reaching enough, however, to indicate the Source from whence they originally sprang, and that, in later days, to someone chosen for the purpose, the secrets contained therein would be re-revealed.

In the later days, therefore, both Paul and John were chosen as the recipients of special knowledge, even to the knowledge of heaven, "whether in the Spirit or out of it," and each was separated from his fellows for a time extending into years. Wherefore, owing to the almost unlimited knowledge required; to the sacredness of the revelation; and to the extreme concentration necessary to clothe these revelations in fitting symbols, the calling and environments of these two men indicate that the Codex Argenteus page under consideration was and is the actual handiwork of one or the other of them. St. Mark may have written his Gospel in Greek, embodying therein the hidden meaning under the guise of narrative history; and so, also, with the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John, they may have been written under the guise of narrative history; but the indications stand out boldly that the Codex Argenteus page as an ensample, the Codex Argenteus as a whole was mathematically developed from the narrative history of the four Gospels, by someone acting under the special instruction and supervision of the Master mind himself.

By pre-eminence in revelation, and by complexity of construction, therefore, as already indicated and set forth, the conclusion is almost unavoidable that the Codex Argenteus now in the immediate charge of the University of Upsala cannot be a transliteration, but is the actual hand-work either of St. Paul the Apostle chosen of God, or of St. John the beloved disciple.

Before closing this paper perhaps it may be well to call attention to what may be considered a facsimile of the "Battle Ranks Diagram of the Children of Israel" that appears in the "Dawn of Astronomy," pp. 136-140, -- Lockyer; the history of which, beyond mere conjecture, has passed out of remembrance. But before this relic of the great past was brought to the Author's notice the Battle Ranks Diagram had already been developed through the Mosaic System of Interpretation, every space contained herein having been derived from the esoteric meaning of the Scriptures. Through the Mosaic System, therefore, this dead relic has been brought again to life, and its rehabilitation is a question of but few years, the history of the world as accorded by the "Song of Moses and the Lamb" filling its veins with historic blood, even from the beginning of Creation. To the astronomer this blood is astronomy; to the geologist this blood is geology; to the ethnologist this blood is man in the higher sense; to the theologian this blood is God, Life; to the archaeologist this blood is reconstruction; to the architect, the painter, the sculptor, the writer, this blood is the font of inspiration, the theme, the glow; to the all, this blood is the All that leads to the All in All; it leads to Him that "never made one thing in vain," to Him that never made a vain attempt to draw His creatures to His fold.
